MMC Replay announced

From the site:

- 512KB Ram
- 512KB Flash Rom
- clockport for RR-Net
- SD/MMC card Interface (MMC64 compatible)
- Freezer (Retro Replay compatible)
- extended freezer-mode
- support for native C128 cartridge software
- freeze/activity LEDs

Fits into a standard cartridge case, even with (RoHS) RR-Net connected.

So much for "New RR-Net a design blooper?", we just didn't know about Individual Computers' plans :)

This topic has already come up and is being discussed in the thread titled, "Season's greetings from individual Computers".

I must admit I was seriously puzzled how Jens could have made such a "mistake". He's a tricky bastard that one! :D

Quite a bad topic name for such news. Also, the MMC Replay didn't even pop up at the retrohackers news yet even though the news is out for over 2 weeks already.

I didn't know anyone was actually reading the News page. That's good news! Means I should actually keep updating it then :D

PS. If anyone feels like writing an article, he or she is more than welcome!

What's wrong with the source at the bottom of the TFR page?

Does it still use the Ultimax mode for accessing the memory expansion?

That really is the only way to WRITE to ROM address space. In all other memory modes a WRITE will go to the "underlying" C64 RAM.
In Ultimax Mode WRITEs to $8000-$9fff and $e000-$ffff will NOT go to C64 RAM and luckily for us they don't end up in oblivion but at the "intended" destination.

Ah, i didn't know this is true also for $e000--$ffff. Good to know!

I was hoping for DMA in MMC Replay though.
